Brazil’s climate differs throughout five regions due to the vast scale of the country. The climate is split between equatorial, tropical, semi-arid, highland tropical and sub-tropical. A milder climate can be found on the plateau, in the cities of Sao Paulo and Brasilia, temperatures average 66F (19C).
The climate on the coast is warmer, the average temperature of Rio de Janeiro is around 80F (26C) and during the summer months has been known to climb to over 100F (38C).
The sub-tropical climate can be found in the southern cities of Porto Alegre and Curitiba and is similar to some parts of the US and Europe, temperatures during the winter months here can drop below zero and frosts are common. Summers in these cities, in contrast, are hot.
The Amazonian rainforest has two seasons, rainy (November to May) and not so rainy (June to October). Temperatures during the dryer season reach a high of 90F (32C) and due to the tropical nature, the climate is warm, moist and humid.
